Conservative No-till/Minimal-till Credits - A branch of our Carbon Rebate Program

If you are following any conservative agricultural practice, you now have a chance to get rebates based on these practices!

Your no-till/minimal till acres in the prairies can now claim carbon credits with our new carbon rebate program.

How your no till/minimal till practices contribute to climate change

No-till/ Minimal till lowers greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that come from farmlands compared with traditional tillage. The reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions are as a result of less soil disturbance. Fewer vehicles and agricultural equipment in the farmland also help to reduce fossil fuel consumption and thus decrease GHG footprint for the farmlands. Furthermore, under no-till management, the amount of carbon sequestered in the soil is increased.

How your no till/minimal till practices contribute to climate change

Our no-till/minimal-till project is a branch of our carbon rebate program, which aims to gain carbon credits for growers. The project provides growers with carbon credits in exchange for verified GHG emissions reductions achieved through no-till. The project is registered and approved on the Canadian GHG registry. The verified credits are available for sale to industrial companies and individuals who wish to reduce their carbon footprint.

Interested in how many carbon credits you can get through no till/minimal till practices? Here is how we are quantifying your carbon credits.

A single carbon credit is equivalent to one tonne of CO2 or other functionally equivalent amount of GHG. We are following internationally acknowledged methodology for quantification. Both baseline and project scenario are tracked, and the carbon credits are quantified based on the GHG emission differences between the baseline and project scenario.

Baseline scenario is how much GHG is emitted without no-till/minimal-till practices. Tell us your conventional/organic farming practices in the previous three years and our environmental team will carry out the quantification accordingly.

Project scenario is the amount of GHG emission reductions that no-till/minimal-till will contribute. Soil is a major pool for carbon and the carbon sequestration is monitored through on-site measurement. We will head to your farmland, collect soil samples, and analyze soil organic carbon in our state-of-the-art laboratory equipped with ICP-OES and carbon testing equipment. All the sampling locations will be geocached in our GPS system and the content of soil organic carbon will be resampled and measured at the same sites. Increase in soil organic carbon reflects the amount of carbon sequestered due to adoption of no-till/minimal-till.

The sources of CH4 and N2O will also be identified based on your improved agricultural management. The carbon credits verification will be performed by an accredited third party before entering carbon market.
